Hello folks, as I write this it is snowing outside, which I know is not supposed to be so odd in December, but if you are used to these Maryland seasons like I am you are used to winter starting in the middle of January, so this seems odd to me.  It was pointed out to me that I have not announced this month’s sale item.  So this seems as good a time to do so as any.

I hope you are all getting the trimmings ready for those thanksgiving feasts, and all your relatives find their way to your home safely.  We thought this was as good a time as any to first remind you to have a safe holiday and not drink and operate heavy machinery (cars, forklifts that sort of thing).  We also want to remind you of our schedule for next week:

As I let you know a couple of days ago, we just received 2 tractor trailer loads of cabinets from our friends at Yorktowne Cabinetry. Receiving a shipment this big has made us decide it’s time to make shopping a bit easier. Over the next week or two we are going to reorganize the single cabinet and vanity sections of the warehouse.  The old system was not bad (cabinets grouped more or less by door style), but we had a lot of issues if anyone moved cabinets to match colors, check styles etc… Over the next week to two weeks we are constructing a racking system and library style organization system so you will be able to shop easier. This means right now there are cabinets EVERYWHERE, stacked between everything and on top of most things, but soon they will stand at attention waiting for their rightful place in your home.

So if you come in and visit us anytime in the next couple of weeks PLEASE pardon our dust, and bear with us, because soon shopping at Second Chance Inc. Warehouse #4 will be even easier and more rewarding.

UPDATE 10/30/07

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Hey Fans and Friends, long time no update.  We have been so busy here at Warehouse #4 with new items and re-working all of the old items that I have not had the time to write a bulletin.  For that I am quite sorry, and I promise that it will not happen again.  Now on to some new changes here at Warehouse #4. 

THE LAST WEEK FOR OUR DAILY SALES IS 11/6/07 – 11/10/07 AFTER 11/10/07 WE ARE DISCONTINUING DAILY SALES.

I know it seems like a bad idea to end perfectly good sales, however we have been running the same sales for almost a full year and they are getting stale. So we now want to try having a new month long sale each month, so we can bring you new and more interesting sales, without the hassle of being here a specific day of the week.  Weston Wednesdays will still be in effect since that is a company wide sale (20% off select hotel items). 

FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER (11/1/07 – 11/30/07) ALL SOLID WOOD DOORS (NO GLASS) (PREVIOUSLY $65.00 AND UP) ARE NOW JUST $40.00.

This does not include designer makers, new items, consignment or any doors with hardware.  It is at our digression to sell any doors with the hardware at the sale price.  The only doors that are a guaranteed part of the sale are average solid wood doors with no hardware.

Right now I am staring at 2 tractor trailer loads of Yorktowne cabinets. We are in the process of unloading/unboxing/pricing these new vanities, sets and singles.  They SHOULD be available for sale by Thursday or Friday.  If you are still on our “list” we will start calling you most likely this Saturday to let you know that the trucks are in and priced.

Our friends at Ferguson have also been sending over truckloads of new items including: Toto Toilets, Frigidaire Dishwashers, Frigidaire Refrigerators, Kohler Tubs, Rohl Faucets, Elkay and Just Stainless Sinks, and Crane toilets. FEATURED ITEM

I have noticed the last featured item was not even an item we have in our warehouse, and this featured item is something that is available in all the warehouses.  Soon I will have a Warehouse #4 exclusive, but until that fine day I have a great item to feature that you can purchase in all the warehouses.

I find that as I pick items that I want to feature I seem to gravitate to things that interest me personally.  I feel like we are all friends here and I can share with you my love of professional sport and sports entertainment (wrestling).  I have been a fan of sports for years, this is not to say I am a sports trivia guru or have ever won a fantasy league, but I do love the place sports have in the landscape of American popular culture.  I personally know as a kid and even as I got older I collected trading cards and as I approached my 20’s decided I would start a jersey collection, which to this day I have and enjoy.  I love the shared memories sports brings us. 

I know for years I teased my mother about not letting me stay up to see the overtime win the Michael Jordan let Chicago Bulls had over the Magic Johnson lead Lakers in 1991. I think it was game two where Michael made one of the top 5 shots of his career in what was essentially a circus shot where Jordan eluded Magic by pulling the ball to his waist and brought it back up for a finger roll. Its memories like these that make me love sport as a common ground for experience and conversation.

We have here at Second Chance Inc the floor seats from the Philadelphia Civic Center.  You can read more about the Civic Center and what events were hosted there on Wikipedia @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Civic_Center . 

The Philadelphia Civic Center was the home to TWO NBA teams (the Warriors and of Course the Wilt Chamberlain 76’ers).  Not to mention the numerous musical acts that played there including the Grateful Dead and I would assume KISS (I think KISS played everywhere).  It was also the home to three WCW Pay-per-views (this is why I mention the love of Sports Entertainment).  I have a pair of these chairs in my game room and noticed a while back as I was watching an old WCW Halloween Havoc that one of the folding chairs that was involved in the in ring action was EXACTLY the same as the chairs I had in the game room.  To this moment I am amused every time I see any clips that involve the chairs. 

We have many of the floor seats available for just $60.00 a pair.  You have a chance to own a piece of history for many avenues of popular culture (including at least sport, professional wrestling and music).   These are a great conversation piece and provide that extra seating we all need in our houses and apartments.  At this price these make a really great holiday gift for that person in your life that is a pop culture nut, like me.

UPDATE 8/23/07

How are you all doing today?  Fine I hope.  I wanted to let you all know that our Customer Appreciation Night went very well.  We had over 25 people in the 5-7pm time slot which for us is a lot of people coming in and learning about both our new extended hours on Thursday nights, and about Second Chance Inc. as a whole.  I certainly hope you get a chance to come and see us on a Thursday night.  Remember we are open on Thursday night from 5 to 7 pm for your convenience, feel free to drop in and say “hi”.

I would like to remind everyone out there on the internets that our 10% off sale on Yorktowne cabinetry, as well as our 25% off sale on deconstructed cabinetry will end on the 31^st of August.  So if you are interested in getting cabinets at 10-25% less than our already amazing prices you will need to get in here by the end of the month.

We would also like to let everyone out there know that if you are remodeling your kitchen, and you are buying things from Second Chance or not, that does not prohibit you from donating your old kitchen cabinets, appliances and countertops to Second Chance Inc. Not only is it a tax write off for you, but it also keeps those cabinets from ending up in the already overflowing landfills, and helps keep our workforce training programs running.  It’s a win/win, and now it’s as easy as filling out the form on our home page and making transport arrangements.  You can also drop in with items from 9:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Saturday and we can fill out the paperwork right then and there.  Don't forget you can look over our items and shop at Warehouse #4  9am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday and until 7pm on Thursday's.

UPDATE 7/25/07

We are just one day and a few short hours away from CABINETDOOROPOLY, the happiest time of year. Cabinet doors are just $2.00 each; just remember you must take them with you when you buy them. As part of this celebration, and part of our continued dedication to recycling and keeping items out of the landfill we are giving away FREE BRADS!  Brads are small nails used in cabinet making (as well as other woodworking) and we have received a few cases of these gems.  I plan to get a few to hang some pictures up in my new place. They are small enough to leave a tiny hole in a wall, which is better than a huge hole in a wall.  I am sure you all have your own ideas for reuse, and we love to see that.  We are giving them away FREE TO A GOOD HOME to anyone who comes in the door. So come in the door and take a few brads with you…please!

UPDATE 7/19/07

How are you doing today, fine I hope.  I have decided for this bulletin to give you a small insight into my life and interests (assuming you care).  I have been a game designer by hobby for quite a few years, and have in the last couple of years started to take it more and more seriously. I have never sold or published a design, but constantly I work on ideas, I have a notebook I keep with me all the time just jotting ideas down.  This causes me to think about things much differently than a lot of people do. I constantly look for ways to apply my hobby to my workday. 

For example lately we have received a bunch of cabinet pulls from Yorktowne cabinetry, they are solid wood and available in cider, white and oatmeal, and are a steal at just $.50 (50 cents) each.  I have been trying to design a game with these things and have yet to come up with any creative ideas.  They are attractive, they feel great in the hand, if nothing else I will use them as pieces to other games (now that is creative reuse kids). 

In this vain our next Customer Appreciation Night is Cabinetdooropoly.  I love the physical design of Monopoly and we all have to admit, we love the little guy in the top hat.  Well with our sale you can buy Boardwalk and Park Place type cabinet doors at Baltic and Mediterranean prices.  Our finished Cabinet doors which are $75.00 and up retail, and are $10.00 to $125.00 our price, were on sale for $5.00 and $20.00 each.  They will be JUST $2.00 EACH FOR 2 HOURS.   Even the huge refrigerator panel sized FINISHED doors will be just $2.00.

ITEM OF THE WEEK

This week’s “Item of the Week” area is being used by Warehouse #3, this is our way of helping our fellow warehouses (which you should visit both on the web and in person).   Warehouse #3 just received a huge lot of Furniture and is having a blowout on This End Up bunk beds, dressers and desk & chair sets to be purchased individually or in 5 piece ensembles. This furniture would be perfect for the kid's room, guest room, weekend house or for college students.

Hey Kids! I have missed you so much. I have missed you and those chats we used to have about cheap cabinet doors and bidets.  I think it is the right time for another conversation about new items and cheap items and sales.  Since this is Fathers day season (is there a “fathers day season”?) and Dad has plenty of ties and socks its time to get him some fine “new and gently used” items from Second Chance, Inc. Warehouse #4.  We are keeping all of our previous sales, but we are adding a few to the bunch for Dads day. 

I KNOW…YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT ELSE IS ON SALE

Our personal butlers (the item you use to hang your coat, belt, pants and tie…all things dad has) are normally $30, but this week, just $24 (20% off).  We also have shaving mirrors (with magnifying mirror) normally $10 just $8 (20% off) this week.  We have also put some of our Moen faucets on sale. We have a Moen chateau four inch spread (narrow spread) faucet set for just $35.00.  Nearly the same item (probably the newer model) is on sales at a major box stores website for $49.00.  We are beating the big guys by $14.00, which is a great savings on a Moen faucet.  We have a limited amount of these but they will be just $35.00 for as long as they last.  We also have the Moen Castleby single lever kitchen faucet.  I found it on a popular auction site for $80.00 plus $13.00 shipping for a total of $93.00.  We are selling ours for just $70.00 and you can see it in person and leave with it today.   

ITEM OF THE WEEK

Lately we have found ourselves the proud owner of quite a few ADA shower stalls.  These shower stalls have grab bars and shower seats built in the complete stall unit.  These are a fantastic item for elderly people and are found in most nursing homes, and would allow a private residence to have the same level of safety.  These units are usually quite pricey ($1,500.00 and up) but we have a few starting at just $900.00.  This is really a great item at a steal of a price.

UPDATE: 5/25/07

Ok folks, let me level with you, I received a new shipment of Yorktowne this past week, and I should be getting another shipment on or about Tuesday.  This means I need to clear a lot of things out, so starting today until they are gone SELECT SINKS JUST $3.  Yes you read that right…..JUST $3.  This weekend is the lacrosse semi-finals at Raven’s Stadium, it will be a block party and a lot of sinks will fly out the door, make one of them yours.  As a final note, a top 5 things you can do with  $3 sinks from second chance:

5. Use it as a sink (yes I know this is not funny, but its so, so true).

4. Get a water pump and create an elaborate fountain and coy pond (I am not sure this is possible or good for coy, but it might work).

3. Fill your backyard with sinks to make a side show type roadside exhibit, and then fleece the rubes. (The rubes love odd things like an old sink exhibit, as long as you are the biggest).

2. Use the sink as a planter (once again not funny, but is probably the most plausible idea on this list).

And the #1 thing you can do with $3 sinks from second chance…

Construct a day festival called “Sinktoberfest” using our sinks as the centerpiece.

Hello kids, and welcome to another installment of the Warehouse #4 Bulletin.  I promised another SALE and here it is…DECONSTRUCTED CABINETS 25% OFF.  That’s right, 25% off our already low priced deconstructed cabinets.  Remember this does not apply to Yorktowne (which are still 10% off) or Consignor cabinets.

NEW THIS WEEK:

Second Chance Inc. just deconstructed a medical center in New Jersey and we have the supply cabinets they used in their offices and most likely exam rooms.  They are in great condition and are priced at $60 a piece for everything but the “pantry cabinets” which we are selling for $100 each.  This is a quick and easy way to organize the laundry room or garage at an amazing price, especially during our deconstructed cabinet sale.

FEATURED ITEM:

I hope each time we do a Bulletin to also let you know about an item that is either a very unique item or a great deal.  In this example we will try the latter, we have a huge stock of stackable ballroom chairs.  They are the standard brass colored frames with pink (not bubblegum pink, much more conservative) fabric cushions (we hope to have some pictures up soon).  These ballroom chairs are just $20.00 each with quantity discounts available for orders of 20 or more. These would be great for churches or civic groups, township or development meeting houses, caterers (if you also want to be able to provide the chairs), or restaurants that need a chair that is stackable and fits well into any budget. There is probably also a great opportunity for an artist that finds stackable ballroom chairs to be their muse to get some great pieces to help them “demonstrate their vision”.  No matter how you slice it, this is a great item at a great price.

Everybody knows about our cabinet door sale on Tuesday’s, when its 2 for Tuesday (get the joke yet?). On Tuesday you can buy one door (like Jim Morrison) and get one door of equal or lesser value for FREE (like Ray Manzarek).  But we have realized that you love our unfinished cabinet doors, and have shown no love to our finished cabinet doors. UPDATE 4/10/07

Hello Second Chance Warehouse #4 fans!  Welcome to our updated bulletin, I certainly hope in the future to update this bulletin every week or two to keep everyone in the loop as to what great items are coming in to the warehouse.  First and foremost, our relationship with Yorktowne continues to stay strong and we could not be happier.  About a month ago the fine folks at Yorktowne Cabinetry sent us TWO TRACTOR TRAILER LOADS of great cabinets; some of the sets are still on the floor and waiting for a good home.  Come in and take a look, with prices that average 80% off list these items do not stick around very long.

We have also received two new shipments from our friends at Ferguson Kitchen and Bath.  These shipments are not “quantity” shipments but “quality” shipments.  On the floor right now we have two stainless steel side by side Jenn-Air Refrigerators, as well as a Viking double oven and a handful of other great items.  As with all the items we get from Ferguson these are “high end” items and are certain to disappear quickly as more people learn about the great deals at Second Chance Inc. – Warehouse #4.

EARTH WEEK PROMOTION 4/17 – 4/21

This year Second Chance, Inc. has decided to celebrate Earth Day with an entire week of sales events.  We were calling it the Earth Day Week Promotion, but after some thought decided to just call it the “Earth Week 2007” Promotion.  I am not sure anyone else but us celebrates the whole “Earth Week” but its great for you because this means a week full of reduced prices on our already low priced items.  Here is a preview of some of the Earth Week sales:

 We are now the outlet center for Yorktowne Cabinetry from Red Lion, Pennsylvania.  Shipments arrive from Yorktowne approximately every 2 months and contain kitchen cabinets, vanities, moldings, corbels, and cabinet doors.

Ferguson also employs us as their outlet and delivers high end appliances, refrigerators, icemakers, double ovens, range hoods, and vent kits with names like Gaggenau, Viking, Wolfe, Whirlpool, and Kitchen Aid.  Through Ferguson, we also carry Jacuzzi tubs, Kohler sinks and toilets, and state of the art faucets featuring Hans Grohe, Kohler, Moen, and Delta.
 
Typical inventory found in this warehouse includes interior/exterior doors, Anderson windows and patio doors, Pella double hung windows, Therma-Tru doors, new and used appliances, full deconstructed kitchen cabinetry, Morris Mechanic theatre seats, ceramic tile, lighting, and numerous other odds-n-ends and unique items!
